I hope this review & information will be helpful to others in the same situation that I found myself in. I was born an Italian citizen & my Italian parents emigrated to the UK in the late 1960s. | sadly lost my Italian citizenship when aged 12 (a minor) my father decided to naturalise to British in order to obtain a British passport. At the time (the late 1970s) we were NOT permitted dual citizenship. In 1979 we moved back to our home area near Salerno & we enjoyed several years of life back home, school etc before eventually returning to the UK. In August 1992 the law changed & an Italian citizen was permitted dual nationality, therefore it was possible to be dual Italian-British. By then I had established a successful recruitment business & settled down in London. Pre-Brexit it never crossed my mind that I should apply for my Italian citizenship re-instatement, after all I was still free to travel, work &, live in Italy/Europe. Fast forward to 2016 & Brexit happened !! My plan had always been to return to live in Italy for part of the year as soon as I could. In 2021 (aged 55) I was fortunate enough to be in a position to be able to stop working after a very happy, long & very busy work life running my own company specialising in international research & development, technology & engineering recruitment. I soon realised that due to Brexit a British passport would not suffice for me to live back home in Italy so I started to do my homework online & getting all my paperwork in order. I eventually was fortunate enough to find Giovanni Di Ruggiero online & contacted him in April 2024. He is very efficient, meticulous & professional but also a compassionate & kind person which is important especially in a case like mine which can be an emotional rollercoaster at times ! A reacquisition should be simple (compared to claiming Italian citizenship via blood-line to distant Italian ancestry which is much more complex), however, what is key is an efficient & capable ufficio anagrafe/stato civile in the town you choose to live in who are experienced in this type of request. Essentially with reacquisition you have to move back to Italy, become a resident & after 12 months your citizenship is automatically restored but it can also be much quicker with the support of a super lawyer like Giovanni !! A simple reacquisition is still a substantial financial commitment with a fair amount of mandatory paperwork & administration, therefore, it is very important to find a proven & highly experienced lawyer like Giovanni Di Ruggiero to support you through the process & give you the right advice . I am delighted to be an Italian citizen again & live in this beautiful country !! ❤️
